Videos are a more engaging than still posts or blogs. This type of content allows businesses to create posts in a certain amount of time to present clear and precise messages allowing you to catch viewers’ attention quickly. Video is also a more effective way of showcasing your product, as the visual element enables your audience to understand more about your offering. Social media and technology are making it increasingly easier to create and post different kinds of video content.
When creating content here are some tips to follow:
- Be a storyteller
- Ensure it is mobile-friendly
- Tailor your video to each social media platform
- Engage the viewer in the first few seconds
So why else is video content important?
It’s more likely for websites displaying video content to rank at the top of Google’s search results. Especially if you upload on to YouTube, as Google also tends to list videos at the top of Google’s results too. In addition to boosting SEO, this also retains customers on your website for longer. Using video will inevitably cause your website traffic to increase.
It’s proven that using video on your landing page can increase conversions by over 80% (Hubspot, 2022).
You can use it in different ways
It is versatile. You can create anything from quick stories to hour-long webinars. What you create depends on what you are trying to achieve from your content. For example, in general, webinars are used more to educate, whereas product videos are used for promotional purposes. You must mix it up too!
Videos are shared on social media more than any other type of content, which increases your views with little effort. LinkedIn users are 20x more likely to share a video on the platform than any other type of post. Tweets with video see 10x more engagement than those without (Social Shepherd, 2022). The stats speak for themselves!
Video content is easier than ever to create and share
Free platforms such as TikTok and Instagram have made this even more popular, by enabling users to create reels and shorts. TikTok has over one billion monthly active users, which is almost the same amount as Facebook. TikTok increases your website clicks, increases your reach and helps increase conversions.
If you’re just posting images on your social media, you need to switch up your content strategy to increase your engagement, traffic and following!
It’s predicted that the average person will spend 100 minutes per day watching online videos (invideo, 2022). Platforms such as Facebook and Instagram are investing more in video capabilities and content for a reason. Video is overtaking major platforms and other forms of content, they produce 12 times more social shares than text and images combined (invideo, 2022). This is due to them being more practical and coherent to portray key information and therefore are shared and liked more.
For humans, 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual (HubSpot, 2017), which means that to promote and understand a brand, video is the most effective and efficient way to do so as the absorption rate of the content will be increased.
The importance of any marketing strategy is engagement and videos encourage this by creating curiosity. Publishing content that educates your audience will create a credible name for your brand. 81% of marketers feel that video has a direct, positive impact on sales (HubSpot, 2022).
If you haven’t started focusing on video content already, now is the time to do so!
